When life gives you snow, you make a granita

The other evening I watched two squirrels eating little shards of ice on a blanket of snow, sharing what looked like a tiny winter dessert at sunset. It struck me how effortlessly they were making the best of what they had — no waiting for spring, no wishing for better conditions, just presence and resourcefulness. And it reminded me how often gratitude begins exactly there: in the imperfect moment right in front of us, in the chance to turn whatever life hands us into something a little sweeter.
